Moreton Osteopaths is based within Mark Brennan Chiropody and Health, on
the Wirral. Principle osteopath Sarah Dodenhoff graduated from the
British School of Osteopathy, and then undertook further training in
Cranial Osteopathy, before gaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric
Osteopathy. Sarah has worked at the Osteopathic Centre for Children, a
charity that treats children from newborns to teenagers for a wide
variety of conditions, and also has experience of working in the childrens' ward, and with premature
babies in the neonatal intensive care unit and SCBU at Barnet Hospital, London as part of the 'flying
osteopaths' team. Sarah also has an established clinic in Warrington
town centre.
Osteopathy is an established, safe and natural system of diagnosis
and treatment focusing on the principle that the body will always try to
maintain the balance which is essential to good health. It recognises that much of the pain and disability we suffer is
caused by abnormalities within the body's framework, as well as damage
caused to it by disease. This can disturb the circulatory system or
nerves to any part of the body and affect any aspect of health.
Osteopaths work to rebalance the structure and function of the body,
looking at all the factors contributing to the body's disturbed state of
natural health rather than simply treating the apparent problem.
Conditions benefitting from treatment include:
·
Back and neck ache
·
Whiplash
·
Sciatica
·
Muscle spasms and cramp
·
Arthritic and rheumatic pain
·
Fibromyalgia
·
Circulatory problems
·
Digestion problems
·
Neuralgia
·
Minor sports injuries
·
Aches and pains
·
Inability to relax
On your first visit a full case history will be taken and you will be
given an examination. Using a highly developed sense of touch
'palpation', any points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the
body will be identified by the osteopath. The osteopath uses her hands
to investigate the underlying causes of pain and to carry out treatment
using a variety of manipulative techniques. These may include rhythmic
joint movements, manipulation, soft tissue stretching and gentle
releasing techniques. This can help to reduce muscular spasm, improve
circulation, reduce swelling and improve mobility, helping to create a
healthier state in which damaged tissue can heal.
